How to plant it

Let stems float in an open part of the tank or loosely position them where they receive light. Do not treat hornwort as a rooted rosette or bury a tightly compressed bunch.

Everyday care

Thin the growth before it blocks light from plants below. Remove shed needles and declining stems promptly so fragments do not accumulate in the filter or substrate.

Growing more

Separate healthy stem sections and allow them room to grow. Remove excess growth during routine maintenance.

What to watch for

The supplier notes that hornwort can either establish quickly or shed heavily after introduction. Persistent breakdown is a reason to remove it and consider a different plant for your water conditions.

Care levels are a practical starting point, not a growth guarantee. “Optional CO₂” means added CO₂ is not essential for a suitable low-demand setup. Check the exact listing for the supplied plant form and current options.
