Can I keep plants without injected CO₂?
Yes, some lower-demand plants are suitable for aquariums without injected CO₂. Java fern and anubias are useful starting points. Choose lighting and a routine that fit that approach rather than expecting the same growth as a high-demand injected layout.
Can I plant everything in gravel?
No. Rooted rosettes and many stems are planted in substrate, but anubias and Java fern should have their rhizomes exposed. Mosses can be attached to hardscape, and floaters stay at the surface.
